Thankfully I wasn’t driving…

To get over there is no easy task for a tourist. Usually when going after treasure, one must endure difficult trials before getting to it. The trials on this adventure were whether or not this old faithful, ready to retire ford f150 would get us to our desired location. Yet that was the least of the trials. I’ll add that the US travel advisor highlights Guerrero as a red state, signifying do not travel. The state of Guerrero has the reputation of being dangerous due to the high crime rate and presence of the cartel. So after briefly counting the cost. I decide to cash in, in hopes for a higher reward.

In a grimy Ford F150, we were making our way around the coast of Acapulco to El Carrizal. Heading due west, you’ll experience first hand the fast, and reckless pace driving out there. It is an absolute free for all, yet somehow, in the midst of all that there is order. Eventually you’ll begin to adapt and be desensitize to it. While being on this drive you’ll come to find the many vendors on the side of the road. Experience different smells, both good and bad ones. Not only that but you get to witness the unique and distinct small towns; while feasting your eyes on the tropical terrain.

We were able to make it to our destination. Roaring waves came crashing into the sand. The noise of the roar amplified over the rest of the sounds of nature. This was no place for you to go swimming, as recommended by the locals. Yet being in the presence of this fierce ocean, there was a limit to how far the ocean could reach us which provided a sense of safety. Behind me was a place of eternal rest, a place were once image bearers of The Almighty walked this planet but now lay. The once alive now dead, rest, while life continues on. What could a man with a camera do or say, to convey this reality…
